well it seems pretty weird that a controller will work with the normal xbox headset and not with a Tritton or any other headset. the only line going into your controller is for the mic. so that should work no matter wwhat headset you use. what i can say is that you should try another cable...

i would surely suggest to switch button layout to tactical. then you know for sure if there's a hardware/software problem. i also would suggest in general to switch to tactical unless you're a heavy knifer and tent to knife alot. if not then tactical layout is better because it's always better...
