How do I play PS2 games on my PS3?

I recently just learned that you can Download Ps2 System Data software from the Playstation Network Store. So I downloaded it. But I put the CD in and it says Unsupported Data. I downloaded it the software. I also don't have the 40 GB hard drive ps3 that it says won't support it. What seems to be the problem can anyone help. Greatly appreciate it!

You need a PS3 that was originally 60GB, 20GB or some of the 80GB models. The 80GB model with a media card reader is definitly back compatable. The 20GB and 60GB ones are best, they have hardware that allows the back compatability, the 80GB one has software that does it only, and there are more issues with games working and not. I have a 60GB and an 80GB with the reader, and of the only 15 or so PS2 games I have they both have worked fine. I esspecially love Star Wars Battlefront, actually play that once in a while unlike the other games, it has worked perfectly.
