i hope this isnt true! but according to this. current Xbox controllers will not work on Next Gen. Xbox "The Durango's control pad will be a "natural evolution" of the Xbox 360's pad, according to SuperDaE's info. While this suggests a near-identical layout—not necessarily a problem considering the cross-platform popularity of the layout with the PC—Xbox 360 controllers won't work with the Durango, as they use what Microsoft is calling a "new wireless technology."

This is very likely true, and the real reason is this:

Microsoft has struggled with "unauthorized" third-party devices being connected to their console, specifically a lot of third-party devices from Datel. Datel and some other companies bribed Microsoft employees to walk out the back door with information on how to hack Microsoft's accessory authentication protocol.

Microsoft will be closing this loophole on the next console but the only way they can do this is to make all existing XBOX360 accessories (authorized AND unauthorized) no longer work with the new console. In this way they create a "clean slate" to block companies from creating third-party accessories for the console without first getting licensing and permission from Microsoft.

This will also mean trouble for any other kinds of products such as those from XCM, or any other boxes or dongles that currently plug into the XBOX360.
