Hey guys, I just wanted to comment on the astro mixamp. It is a great product. came in a snazzy little package with a couple compartments, but it is a great thing to have. 7.1 surround sound is so clear on the mixamp, and any pc headset with a mic and headphone jack can hook up to it. Anyone else have the astro mixamp? for 99 dollars it was a great christmas present

I had an astro a40 with mixamp a few months ago. I heard the sound was better than the turtle beach headsets. I agree that the sound was really good. I liked being able to tune the sound/voice with the mix amp but all the wires drove me crazy. I felt like I was all tangles up whenever I used it. I ended up selling it and going back to my turtle beach x41's. It would be nice to use with my pc but I might look into some trittons.

trittons are just as bad with wires. sound quality is pretty good but i dont like it for video games, movies are great on the trittons, i wish i bought x41s tho cuz i have x4s and those i prefer over the trittons

I have had the Turtle Beach x3, 2 pairs of Turtle beach x4, and one turtle beach x41. Never had a problem with any of them. I just upgraded recently to the x41's. I used 1 set of x4 upstairs and one downstairs because I had multiple xboxs. My kids even pick them up and run around and they have never broken.

yeah, i love my turtles, but the trittons kill me with the wires + strange sounds in video games

The wireless astro comes with bass boost, like the turtle beaches, and my setup didnt cost 250 dollars because i didnt buy the astro headset, but got a pc headset which you can get for cheap.

wow 90 with mixamp and headset. thats a great deal. and as for wired vs wireless, depends what you like better. The wireless has 7.1 surround sound vs 5.1 of the wired. wireless has bass boost as wired doesnt. Wired can be used for lan parties(astro to astro without xbox live chat)(tournaments). Wired can be used for other media(ipod and such). And wireless runs batterys like its its job. Personally, I am not good enough to go to tournaments, and dont listen to my opod with big headsets, so I got the wireless(at the time it was also 30 dollars less on sale). But If i were you I would stay with the wired, as it has more options if you are a pro gamer.

You should say no XBOX 360 games support 7.1, for PS3andCod, some PS3 games support 7.1.
