Be sure to check the 'Allow word configuration programming' button at least one time, after you load a 10/24/2009 or newer game code.
We added some code to make the Drivers compatible with a new circuit board in some controllers from microsoft called 'CG2' circuit boards. If you don't check the box though, the next time you go to put the controller into programming mode, you have to start holding sync/right tac before you even put the batteries in. Once you've checked the box and flashed a driver in, it goes back to normal forever.
