actually you should be glad you didnt get purple LEDs they draw more power to the controller costing you more money(batteries)

Rechargeable batteries are the way forward. I have 4 with with 2 charging when not in use so I always have a 'new' pair to use then the others run out..=)

I have 6 batteries charging at all times...

The UV LEDs are the one's that eat the most voltage. I have some in my controller, but I always play with my PnC cable plugged, because it sends the right right amount of Voltage to the LEDs.
But here is a little secrete that most people don't know about, the pink LEDs are actual a purple color!!! And guess what?? They do not take that much voltage to power them up!!
