Led's

I have a question regarding the led connections on the Xbox ragnarok chip.
The two wires going to the leds from the chip are they connected to positive side of the led's? if so, then if I want to run my own seperate led's I could use any ground on the controller circuit board right?

Man I can't remember lol. I feel like they are connecting to the cathode of the LED's when it's a matrix, and the anode of the LED's when it's a CG/CG2. I could be wrong. There is a little white dot polarity marking sometimes, that indicates cathode. I.e. it might say like D22 for the LED/diode and then a small white mark indicating cathode (-).

I don't have a matrix circuit board here right now.
