My Created Driver Using the Hex Editor Won't Work

Okay so I have the Thor's Hammer and I used the Hex Editor to make a mod, and then I used the newest bootloader to put it on my controller. It didn't have any error messages or anything, but like it didn't do anything. After I programmed and rebooted it just turned my controller into a normal controller. It'll take off the mod I had on it, but it won't put the new one on. I made the buttons to turn the mod on left trigger+sync and when I do that, nothing happens. The only LED that'll light up is the player 1 slot. I tried putting making different ones in the hex editor but nothing I make in the hex editor will work. All the pre-made drivers off the site work, but anything I make won't. I remember a while back I made one on the hex editor and it worked then, so I don't know why it won't work now. Please help. :(

Can you post up the .hex file that came out of your custom driver editor and attach it to this thread?

Also, in the custom driver maker, when you click on About Us, does it show version 0.9.6.0?

(Also please tell me you aren't trying to get this to work on a Tyr's Hand as that is not compatible  )

Wow, it doesn't work on my Thor's Hammer either. I will start working on this issue and post back here when it's solved. Thanks for the bug report (and posting your .HEX that's always the biggest help)

Honestly, I have no idea how, but the attached version works. What did I do?

1.) Opened your version in my .HEX editor.
2.) Saved it.
3.) Flashed it to my Thor's Hammer.
4.) Works now?

Can you check the files in C:\program files\Viking 360\Viking360 Preset Editor

The THORS_HAMMER.DAT file should have a date of 12/5/2010.
The config.xml file should have a date of 11/10/2010.

If not, something did not get installed correctly. Try uninstalling/reinstalling the custom driver editor.

I tried to do what you did, opened yours in my hex editor, saved it, and flashed it to my controller but it still didn't work. :(

Checked the file dates, they were correct.

Uninstalled and reinstalled everything, but still nothing.

I'm starting to think the program just hates me.

I did a hex compare on both files posted in this thread so far - the vptest and the thor's hammer test - it turns out they are identical. I don't know why it works on my controller? I tried reflashing both files into my Thor's Hammer several times and seems to be working.

May I suggest you try running the button test code for your Thor's Hammer and post the results?

Tried it on another computer, same thing.

I ran the Button Test Code, and the player 4 LED flashes 3 times. Does that mean my right bumper is messed up? And if it is, why does that make it so that I can't flash my controller with created hex files? I'm so confused. :|

The custom driver editor produces software for your controller that allows you to use all sorts of different button combinations for scrolling through macros. If one of your buttons is shorted out, it's going to mess up the software. Should try to arrange for repair with the modshop that you originally purchased from. Typically we'll make repairs even out of warranty if 1.) you pay shipping both ways 2.) you bought from Viking360.com originally (not craigslist, e-bay, 'your buddy', or a partner site even) and 3.) the repair is related to the modchip or modchip wiring (we don't fix broken sticks, broken bumpers or other wear n' tear types of things - we also won't do other custom work while we're making the repair)

Shoot me a PM to get set up!
