I don't like parting with 15 bucks anymore than the next guy but I will gladly pay it. I know, I know, speak with your wallets. However, video games to me represent a huge cost/time value. I've put in $75 dollars into MW2 and I've played multiplayer for like 16 days thats about 19 cents per hour of entertainment. This doesn't even include any single player or spec ops play (maybe 7 hours for single player and another 12 for spec ops). If you rent a movie from Redbox and only keep it one day you're still in the 57 cents/hour range (assuming a 1.75 hour movie). The high initial cost of games is sometimes daunting; however, they represent a great value proposition for most of us.
