Thor's Hammer && P'n'C Cable

I've recently come into a Thor's Hammer w/o its original P'n'C cable (if it came with one).

I can get the controller into programming mode via sync-guide w/o a hitch.

I'm using my own P'n'C cable.

[edit]

"USB Device Not Recognized" in WinXP/32.

I'm going to reboot now to see if this clears something up.

note: I had another Thor's Hammer that I programmed on this computer not just 1 month ago.

[edit2]
rebooted. still "USB Device Not Recognized" / "Unknown Device".

repaired .net4 installation, uninstalled viking360 legacy software.

rebooted. still "USB Device Not Recognized" / "Unknown Device".

the controller does properly go into rapidfire mode itself.

[edit4]
same thing on a win7/64 box.

[edit5]
i'll try a different P'n'C cable tonight.

tested 3 different P'n'C cables (1 OEM, 1 Nyko, 1 China Special), 3 different OS's (XP/32, 7/64, V/64).

no go. all platforms/all cables "USB Device Not Recognized".

The device is working as a multi-mode rapid fire controller right now, but nothing more than that. I'll rip it apart again in a few hours and test the soldering.

Please reply here if you've got any ideas.

:/

vista32 box at home worked. (vista64 box didn't).

potentially rhetorical: one of my thor's hammers connects just fine on my work xp32 box, but this one didn't. v32 worked on both.

oh well. chaulk this one up to me learning what installs i need to keep around :O.

Check D+ and D- connections inside the controller, or take it back to the guy who sold it to you and demand a refund.
