Turtle Beach PX5

I just heard about these yesterday and they look AWESOME. I am definitely going to buy them the day they come out. Just wondering what everyone else thinks. The programmability is very cool and bluetooth feature will be nice.

Overview

The PX5 is the most technologically-advanced headset ever designed for PS3 and XBOX 360 gaming, incorporating a programmable digital signal processor to allow independent customization of the chat, game and microphone signals. Custom presets stored in the headset can be selected during specific parts of the game to emphasize sounds like footsteps or reloads that might otherwise be difficult to hear. It can even be programmed to disguise your voice or to enhance the voices of online players so you can hear them more clearly during intense parts of the game.

The PX5 is also the first headset to incorporate dual radios—one for immersive, Dolby Digital surround sound game audio and another for chat on the PlayStation Network via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth feature also supports stereo audio streaming for listening to music while playing a game and can also be used to accept phone calls while playing the game.

Although optimized for PS3 and Xbox 360 gaming, the PX5 is also perfect for watching movies and listening to music, with its impeccable audio performance, large, deep, fabric cushions, soft headband, and twist cup designed for resting the headset on your shoulders. The PX5 marks the beginning of a new breed of wireless gaming headset that serves as the ultimate “secret weapon” in the arsenal of serious gamers seeking unmatched audio quality, sonic control and a competitive advantage.

Programmability

The Ear Force PX5 lets you customize the way game, chat, and mic sounds are processed. You can configure each preset with different settings to enhance specific parts of the sound.

With the press of a button, you can completely change your sound environment and hear sound cues you’d normally miss. For instance, you can isolate the sound of footsteps in the distance while gunshots are blasting all around you or hear the clink of a bullet shell falling on the floor. By adjusting the way sounds are processed, you can choose what’s important and react faster. The PX5 also reduces ear fatigue with its unique Ear Guard feature that automatically controls the volume of extremely loud sounds, like explosions, without affecting other sounds in the game. You can play longer without having to turn it down for the occasional blasts of explosions and gun shots.

Presets give you a huge competitive advantage by allowing you to hone in on sounds your enemies can’t even hear, making sure communication with your team is crystal-clear and filtering out distracting noises that can overwhelm your concentration.

Game Presets

Game presets change the way the headset processes game sounds, so you can tune in to the important sounds at critical parts of the game. For example, if you're having a hard time hearing footsteps while playing your favorite FPS, just load up a preset that makes footsteps louder and you can suddenly hear them over loud gunfire and explosions, just as if you had super human hearing.

Chat Presets

Chat presets manipulate the voices from XBOX Live and PlayStation Network chat. Have a teammate or friend who's always huffing and puffing into the mic? Just load up a preset that kills off really quiet chat sounds so you don't have to listen to the breathing. You could use a chat preset to limit burst volume if you've got a friend prone to victory-yelling. Or, load the Chat Boost preset if you can't hear your teammates over the roar of loud game blasts.

Mic Presets

Mic presets let you change the way others hear your voice. If you're playing in a room with a lot of ambient sounds, you can quiet things down by using a preset that shuts off the mic when you aren't talking. You can also have fun with the Voice Morphing feature which can make you sound like a monster, a chipmunk or anything in-between.

Trittons>Astros>turtle beaches

I prefer wireless so Trittons and Astros are out of the question for me. I did own a pair of Astro A40's with Mixamp but the wires drove me crazy. I think the with programmility of these new turtle beaches they will rival the mixamp of the astros and make them even better.

Being able to increase the sound of footsteps and reloads alone? Unbelievable.

Are they still on 2.4hz frequency because that was my only problem with them. My router was in my room and it was also 2.4 so i had all kind of static. I didnt have any problem with the astro 5.8hz though. Astro wireless, just has too many wires to be "wireless" These look amazing. If i didnt just buy a wired mixamp I would have waited for these.

Turtle Beach > Astros > Trittons in my opinion.

These look amazing, but I am done with headsets. Ever since I quit Search and Destroy, I have found them to be useless.

I don't play with sound from my tv, only headset so I need to use them. I have my 50" Plasma in the living room where we watch tv and stuff then my 37" LCD about 2 feet to the left of it that I use strictly for gaming. So my wife can watch tv/movies and I can game in the same room without disturbing her.

ok but when you spend more than 400 dollars with a company and they break in a week do you continue to go to them?

Their products also come with a 1 year warranty so you should have been able to get it fixed without a problem. I've had the x31 and x41 and never had a problem though. I use them daily and my kids even throw them around and they are still working perfectly.

That sucks. Dealing with warranties is always a pain so I believe it.

Turtle beaches are nice, but truthfully they are the worst quality of the three(tritton astro tb). They feel very plastic but that is what makes them light. With my x31s i could hear great, but i just couldnt deal with the constant buzzing of the frequency interference so i got the astro wireless. Great sound and zero buzzing, but with the amount of wires, the wirelessness was useless. So now i have the wireless mixamp on ebay for more than i paid for it(bought it when it was on sale) and plan to just buy a wired mixamp. We will see. If the wired astros dont strike my fancy, then im going with the trittons.

My best friend is MLG and during the summer I go to the tournaments with him....We practice together and he gets free astros so we use them(free as In to use until after the tourney) and they sound great dont get me wrong....however they seem like they have no bass! Now on to tritton AX pros(I have no idea about 720s) ax pros sound like shit unless you set each channel....I think the best setup for ax pros is if you turn all the channels down to 0 and set them (from 0) like this front channel-3 center-2 rear-1 sub-5

That was the thing about the wireless also. It had a bass boost like the x41s and it sounded amazing, but for all the wires, i would rather have a wired, that i can use for my ipod and other stuff besides xbox.
