Macro software is amazing

How does the software know I have the silver controller? Its so sexy, If I first load up the software its the black controller but if I plug my controller in it turns to my silver controller! Very cool.

The chips probably have ID numbers, and Odingalt programs a number coresponding to the correct colour when he initially flashes the chip. Liek the first digit of the ID number is the colour.

That's exactly correct. When the technician puts together the controller, he programs a code into the modchip that corresponds with the shell type. We then update the PC software to read this number. The PC software stores images of the different shell types. I need to add Grey Clouds and Barbed Wire some time.
