Bug in the new dashboard or bug in MW3??? Can't power off controller!

I think there is a bug in the new dashboard or in MW3 with the latest update. Have you noticed when going to "power off controller", that the controller doesn't actually power off most of the time? I've tried powering off even a completely unmodded, stock controller - and it doesn't power off either.

I was beating my head against the wall here for two hours trying to figure out why my modded controllers wouldn't shut off. Then I tried about 4 of the different modded controllers I have on the shelf (Tyr's Hand, Thor's Hammer, Odin's Raven, Macro) and same thing. So then I'm thinking what the heck... I go and grab an unmodded controller. Took me awhile to find a stock. Actually it wasn't even a whole controller, just a circuit board, so I had to hold the battery carefully in place (easier with a PnC pack) while using a screw to short out the buttons. But I got the job done and was able to confirm that you can't power off a controller in MW3 with this new update!

However during some things like when it's playing back video the chances of getting the controller to power off seem higher. Not sure what's going on but very strange bug, indeed!

Really? Hmm that's very strange. I have yet to notice this. I haven't tried to power off my controller while the game is loaded so idk. I'll have to check it another time. So tired, bout to go to bed. That's really weird and idk why that's happening. If it does it to mine I will be very annoyed because that sounds dumb as hell. I don't get how microsoft can mess something up like that. BTW, when you get a sec if you can check out my thread I started earlier in this forum thatd be awesome. I know you've prob been busy and I have barely been at my dorm at all today cuz it's finals week.

I usually dont power off my controller although Im now curious. When I first updated it wouldnt let me play any indie games or XBLA games. It would sign me out when I started up the game. So I recovered my account and it worked. It was weird.

E', that seems very strange... I haven't ran into this problem at all and I also power-down my system using my controller. But I haven't been using a wireless controller either. I finally fell in love with the Onza Razer controller and have been using it for the past couple weeks, and as you may know the Razer is a wired controller..... But I will test this theory out tonight and see if I can power down my system using a wireless controller....

Right I should specify that I was having this issue with wireless units. I had the issue with all varieties of controller, matrix2, matrix and CG so I don't think it's isolated to a certain controller. I had the issue with modded and unmodded so I don't think that's the issue either. Somebody start up COD:MW3 already and try this! lol It's where you can pick between co-op, single player or multiplayer.

I ran your test using a CG2 wireless controller and started up MW3, went to the start screen that has "campaign ; special ops ; multi-player" then I pressed and held the guide button and then I selected "power off system" and my Xbox + controller turned off....

I think Odingalt is trying to turn just the controller off, not the console... I dunno about xbox, but PS3 has both options if you hold down the PS button.

Yeah, I meant when you select power off controller - not power off console. (just try powering off the controller but leave the console on)

Duhhhh..... I totally over looked that from you're OP...... It clearly says, "power off controller"...... I'm about to pass-out right now but I will check this out first thing tomorrow and then report the info on my findings....
