ordered(odins raven)controller have a few questions

firstoff im new here so... a big shout out to all :geek:
now onto my questions
1)just ordered my controller(1/12/10 est) when can i expect it and whos delivering it
i ask cause i live in an apt building and dont want it stolen  (hopefully it arrives sig. required)
or maybe ill tackle my mail person and my ups and fed ex guys daily till it gets here to ensure i get it...
hmmm... i go high my son goes low right out of a giants play book ala lt and harry carson...

2) i am in the middle of zapping my other controller(battery died on soldering iron :x ) with a DIY i
picked up from foundmy.when i get it done do i simply plug it in to the comp to install the comps driver for the first time
or do i need to put it in programmable mode first (as if i was going to install a game driver) then plug in to get the comp to "see it" :?

3) why not give options on shipping overnight,standard,fed-ex etc. ? will save a lot on the nerves on our end
till next time i remain... ceramickamelhump

Be patient man you will get a mail, like this "Current Track & Confirm e-mail information provided by the U.S. Postal Service"
With your Label Number you will be able to track your mail ""http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirmfaqs.htm""
I'm also waiting for my order

1.) We usually ship the day after you order (if you order on Monday, we ship out your controller on Tuesday). We ship signature confirmation required, so you'll either need to be present to sign for the package, or else they will leave a notice and you can then either schedule for re-delivery, or go to the post office to sign and pickup the package.

2.) The first thing I like to program into the controller is the button test code, so I can verify if there are any short circuits in the controller anywhere. It doesn't detect all problems but is a good start in debugging your install.

3.) There is a long list of reasons that small business use USPS:

*Free carrier pickup (we operate the business out of our residence; UPS and FedEx charge extra courier fees for pickup at our location since we are not at a 'business location').
*Lower rates (USPS and FedEx charge us retail rates because we don't ship enough volume per month, plus there is a residential surcharge added to our rates schedule again due to our location) - our average parcel is about $11.50 for Viking customers, with FedEx or UPS our average parcel would be closed to $18.
*Very cheap international shipping service when compared to UPS/FedEx. International Express delivery times are 5-8 days to most countries for under $40, UPS and FedEx cost $80 and up depending on the country.
*Faster delivery times (while UPS and FedEx fare well when shipping on the west coast, USPS is much faster to our customers back east and down south)
*Deliver to APO is affirmative (military bases or folks overseas)
*Delivery to PO box is affirmative (USPS will ship to PO box, assuming your billing address is a PO box or you forward your mail to a PO box for any reason)

Disadvantages of USPS:

*Poor tracking information (sometimes the tracking information doesn't update until the day before the package is going to be delivered)
*Not as reliable as UPS/FedEx (I would guess 5% of packages are delivered after the 3-day priority promise; however on average USPS service is still much faster than comparably priced UPS/FedEx ground service)

I know it's frustrating because you can get FedEx 2-day from big retailers like amazon.com or newegg.com. These companies turn such a huge volume, that they get major discounts from UPS/FedEx. Also they run large shipping and distribution warehouses, and probably employ some people 'in-house' so as to reduce the amount of work UPS/FedEx have to do, decreasing rates even further. We're just a small business, so we're paying UPS Store/Retail rates on every package, since we aren't located in a designated 'business district', according to UPS.

Being a small business is the pits. We are doing some minor website improvements this month including a new order-status feature, so customers can more easily access the status of their order. We again evaluated UPS vs. FedEx vs. USPS before implementing the new syste, but USPS is just more small-business friendly. Inversely, we order all of our supplies almost exclusively from FedEx when we can, because I love fedEx very much lol :D

yeah, usps is cheaper, although ups is far more reliable in my opinion

fredrow did a controller for me, i sent it in two weeks ago, sent it in on monday, he got it friday, he sent it on monday of the next week, and i got it back on saturday. -usps "so called" 2-3 day shipping was used and it still took forever.

and yeah, as odin said, tracking is just a joke. with ups, ive been tracking my xbox's journey accross america to get repaired and back with frequent updates. with usps, fredrow sent me the package, and even after i recieved it, the online tracker said that they were still waiting to get the package from fredrow.

basically, you get what you pay for, and if you wanted to pay for the extra shipping costs, im sure odin would ship ups if you asked him too - correct me if im wrong odin

Ok just so we are clear. I shipped your item on Wed. Matt and you got it Saturday. Not sure why you think it was Monday?? I have a copy of the shipping label and date on it. Also USPS is faster than UPS. All of the slow shipping through USPS all took place in December, because of the 2 major holidays. Also

Oh wow, my bad there. I remember getting an email on sunday you were shipping it tomorrow for some reason. My apologies usps :) by the way, controller is working great fredrow. Nice work. In the end though it doesnt really matter to me lol. My xbox got back a day after my controller. And i sent them at the same time. I've got patience, i mainly just like to track things with ups.

Again, my apologies. i just read through that and realized i sounded like a real douchebag, which is not what i want. I guess i wad just a lil pissed at the time. I wad driving to usps to get my controller on saturday and some guy turned into my lane without looking and pushed me into a snow drift and drove off. My car got pretty messed up. It wasnt really usps fault, i was just a tad pissed off lol ;)
