REPAIR MY DRIFTING LEFT ANALOG STICK?

My left analog stick moves on its on. It is loose and this is very frustrating trying to play call of duty as it throws off the aim and makes proning impossible. I would love to get that new controller feel back in my analog sticks. This is not as simple as changing the analog stick itself from a new controller as i've tried that. The actual joystick that is attached to the circuit board is where the problem is. So Its not a problem fixied by cleaning or buying new sticks because the whole controller board needs to be replaced. I would have no problem replacing it but then i'd have to remove all of the viking parts and make them work on a new controller. This is something i don't nor am willing to do. The viking works great ive just worn out the controller. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Once the actual mechanism has worn out, the only options I know of are to get a desoldering tool and replace those analog sticks (problem is the viking chip is right in the way of the solder points for one of the analog sticks), or to remove the mod and install it in a new controller. Sort of a pain. My wife and I just replaced a thumbstick like this the other day, it took both of us working together half an hour to accomplish the job, and we have a LOT of experience in this type of work. She desoldered the chip while I removed the thumbstick from a donor circuit board, then I removed the thumbstick from the modded controller and installed the new, then she resoldered the wires to the mod chip and put it back in place.

It's too bad microsoft can't find heavier-dutier thumbsticks. Though I have yet to wear out the thumbsticks on my controller yet :) I guess microsoft was thinking if you pay $40 for your controller and get a couple year's use out of it that's all you get, but then when you pay more to get the mod installed it makes it hardest to just say 'oh I'll just replace the controller' because you're usually talking over $100 !

Is there anybody that could do this repair. I have the same issue except that it's the right stick. I don't have the skills to do this lol. Oh yeah odingalt when you get a chance can you check your PM I sent you a message.

What sucks is the mod chip is right in the way of one of the sticks' solder points. And the other stick is behind a trigger mechanism. So you either end up having to desolder and resolder every connection on the mod chip (a pain) or remove and desolder one of the triggers (also not totally fun, but easier than reconnecting all the wires onto the mod)

If you had an unmodded controller I would totally tell you to just pick up the equipment from radio shack and buy the replacement thumbstick mechanisms from llamma and do the deed yourself, with the mod chip in the way it makes it a time consuming pain :? I am not brainstorming any good ideas yet on how to get the thumbstick fixed for cheap.

Ok so I tried the desolder job But I messed up. So I guess I just nee to sell the chip and save up for a new viking controller
