Repair my Thor's Hammer?

I bought a Thor's hammer a LONG time ago. Probably 2 years or something. Now I loved it for a while, but The left thumbstick has before really insensitive to being pushed down. I was trying to put up a support ticket, but I can;t lot in and I'm not receiving my email to reset it. So I turned to the forums. Is there a service where I could send in my controller to Viking and have them replace only the thumbstick? And if so, How much would this service cost?

Fredrow are you still doing repairs or is your new gig keeping you busy? Our shop standard repair fee for out of warranty work starts at $50 but could be higher depending on the work they need to do. Our tech can easily spend 2 hours on a thumbstick replacement and he costs us about $30 an hour. Here are some videos showing how hard it is just to replace thumbstick (not to mention uninstall and re-install the modchip that is in the way if it's a right thumbstick replacement):

Nope it's a left thumbstick replacement. But I'm wondering if it would be easier/cheaper to just take off the modchip from this controller's motherboard and reinstall it on another one?

Keep in mind you need a special type of controller to install your chip on.

I had this same problem with my Thor's Hammer. I replaced the thumbstick myself. The left thubmstick is the easyer one to replace. You will have to remove two wires just remember where they go. I'm really bad at his sort of stuff but I was able to fix my controller. All you need to buy is this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062731 a analog replacement and some solder and you will be good to go. Just make sure you take your time and make sure to get all the solder off before you try to remove the analog stick or you will damage the board. But if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself just send it in.

Actually that is not a bad idea. Surely other parts of your controller will start wearing out, you just need a replacement controller CG or CG2 circuit board. Do you or any of your good buddies have any soldering skills? This thing is well out of warranty so you can't hurt anything lol. We can round up the old installation instructions for you if somebody you know wants to give it a go.

Well I have a soldering iron but I don't know any body that knows how to actually use one correctly. Or that I would trust anyway. The reason I figured trading the controller completely was because something is also wrong with the motherboard so that my mic is absolutely awful when it's plugged in. And the vibration is also far weaker than any of my other controllers.

If it's two years old I'd just replace it. If it's had heavy heavy play after a year I would just replace it as well. Microsoft controllers eventually need all their parts replaced and in reality the controller itself is only around $50, when you pay $150 for a mod you're paying for the labor to install the modchip, the modchip/manufacturer's defect warranty and the driver updates (and of course some profits in there for Odingalt as well). If enough parts need replaced it's just cheaper to replace the wholemod.

It sounds like we need to institute some sort of, long-time customer with worn-out controller replacement program.
