If you have a 3.5mm jack hole in the back of your controller, you need a particular 3.5mm jack to USB cable. It's the second gen Ipod shuffle cable I believe, but you can get replacements from the support/helpdesk people.

If your mod programs through the play-and-charge port, yes, it can be programmed using any standard Microsoft play-and-charge cable. (Some Chinese knock-offs will not work, so we recommend the authentic Microsoft PnC cable)

Whatever you do, do NOT EVER use a knock-off play and charge kit. One knock-off PnC completely destroyed one of my controllers (luckily not a viking controller) beyond repair. The controller just never worked after using the PnC. I do not know all the details - but just make sure you use an authentic microsoft PnC cable.

For example, safe: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Blac...352864763&sr=8-1&keywords=play+and+charge+kit

Not safe: http://www.amazon.com/Play-Charge-C...352864763&sr=8-2&keywords=play+and+charge+kit

You can see how much more expensive the authentic one, but let me tell you it is worth it.
