A letter costs $0.50 here... You can seriously send a 2 pound package for only 2 pounds?Jonny said:So over in the US, do you guys have an equivalent of the UK's Royal Mail with 1st class and 2dn class post and insurance like £2 (really cheap)?
did you sell/ do you sell controllers without signature confermation? because when i got mine it didnt have signature confermation.odingalt said:Yes. It can take 6 weeks to get your package that way. Tracking information is not provided. We do not offer this option because it would be fraud city for us. Filing an insurance claim with the USPS is impossible if you don't have confirmation that the package was lost... if they don't track the package, they won't confirm it's lost... it can take up to 6 months or longer to get the insurance back, and they do not pay you based on the value of the parcel, they pay you based on the value that you prove to them you think the lost item was worth. First class mail is for mailing letters, junk mail and anything else you can afford to lose and not replace.
I had to do it once, they ask for invoices for our modchip components and assembly cost invoices, and all sorts of ridiculous poop to prove the worth of the item. It' is NOT worth it. And it makes customers really angry. Shipping first class is a great way to run your small business into bankruptcy.
Our fraud or lost package rate (we'll never really know which) was about 15% when we used to sell on E-bay and we shipped Priority without signature confirmation. We shipped with insurance and 'delivery confirmation'. Customer would claim package was never received. We contacted post office, and they would check 'delivery confirmation' which is usually incorrect, because mail route person does not remember to scan the slip into their little computer ever. Also, delivery confirmation (that is, the USPS agent confirms that the parcel was placed at the customer's doorstep or in their box) is not sufficient to win a credit card chargeback or paypal chargeback claim.
Even with signature confirmation, delivery confirmation, and insurance, the USPS completely lost about 1-2% of packages that we mailed. We just ate the costs rather than dealing with their insane insurance reclamation process... we finally quit shipping with insurance, and just 'self insured'. We took the money we saved by NOT buying insurance, put it in a slush fund, and used that to recoup our costs every time the USPS lost a package. When a package was lost, we'd either just issue a refund or ship a new controller, since our slush fund covered the costs already. In this way, we don't have to deal with the f'in USPS government bull poop.

We started without the sig confirmation, that's what I mean, when we started out only using PayPal, selling on E-Bay and not requiring sig confirmation, we got ripped off all the time. Glad you weren't one of those customers

WOW!!! Way to make people who don't have the money to pay for a company to build a site for them feel good!!!!! back when we were running that website that I build using MacroMedia Dreamweaver (the ugly, amateur looking site). Also E, I'm pretty sure we still did sig confirmation back then too. Maybe M1A1's label got by without having that option checked when his labeled was created, or maybe it was sent to his Mother and she signed for it!!!
