I think odingalt said they switched shippers. Beside, whats 8 bucks when you're buying a $200 controller? It's better to pay the little bit extra and get it in one piece.

The first 30 or so customers that ordered actually got a sweet deal on shipping - they paid about half the actual cost because of a bug in our UPS API. (We weren't specifically telling UPS that the addresses are for residential delivery; UPS charges a bunch of surcharges for residential delivery). You may have noticed the rates increase since the last time you loaded the shopping cart. You can double check our rate calculation directly with www.ups.com. Our ZIP code is 99336. The parcel is 8x4x4 inches, and weighs 1lbs, 10oz. Be sure to indicate residential delivery where applicable.

Unfortunately because we aren't walmart/newegg, we don't get bulk discount rates with companies UPS and FedEx... we are basically paying retail shipping rates. We get hit with a bunch of random surcharges that the larger retailers don't have to pay for.

By the way, before we launched the new website in September 2010, we used to ship using the good old USPS. However, just search our forums for USPS, and you'll see about 30 complaints about USPS delivery. Customers complained, we listened. We ditched the cheaper USPS for the more expensive UPS.

right, i was about to order for 207$ but then i couldn't because no paypal. So a few days later I was going to use my credit card, but then shipping was $15. Can you add a third option, cheap USPS? I'd gladly do that one if that's not an issue. I'd order right away.

USPS is usually around $12-$15 (incl. insurance and signature confirmation) but we're not planning to re-install USPS on the website (it takes a lot of work to install a shipping API on a website)

I remember posting about how i hated usps with a passion a few months ago and my thoughts still stand.
Usps has caused me nothing but hell.

Their tracking is terrible, they've lost numerous items in the mail of mine, and they broke a brand new custom cased xbox of mine as well.

And the funny thing is, you have to pay for the extra insurance, so that, when they do screw up, you can file a claim and get your money back after months and months of waiting.

However with UPS, everything they ship is automatically insured. Why do they do this? Because they pretty much never break stuff, and when they do, they own up to their mistake and pay you compensation like USPS should, but doesn't.

To anybody worried about shipping costs, trust me, it's worth it.

So over in the US, do you guys have an equivalent of the UK's Royal Mail with 1st class and 2dn class post and insurance like £2 (really cheap)?

Yes. It can take 6 weeks to get your package that way. Tracking information is not provided. We do not offer this option because it would be fraud city for us. Filing an insurance claim with the USPS is impossible if you don't have confirmation that the package was lost... if they don't track the package, they won't confirm it's lost... it can take up to 6 months or longer to get the insurance back, and they do not pay you based on the value of the parcel, they pay you based on the value that you prove to them you think the lost item was worth. First class mail is for mailing letters, junk mail and anything else you can afford to lose and not replace.

I had to do it once, they ask for invoices for our modchip components and assembly cost invoices, and all sorts of ridiculous shit to prove the worth of the item. It' is NOT worth it. And it makes customers really angry. Shipping first class is a great way to run your small business into bankruptcy.

Our fraud or lost package rate (we'll never really know which) was about 15% when we used to sell on E-bay and we shipped Priority without signature confirmation. We shipped with insurance and 'delivery confirmation'. Customer would claim package was never received. We contacted post office, and they would check 'delivery confirmation' which is usually incorrect, because mail route person does not remember to scan the slip into their little computer ever. Also, delivery confirmation (that is, the USPS agent confirms that the parcel was placed at the customer's doorstep or in their box) is not sufficient to win a credit card chargeback or paypal chargeback claim.

Even with signature confirmation, delivery confirmation, and insurance, the USPS completely lost about 1-2% of packages that we mailed. We just ate the costs rather than dealing with their insane insurance reclamation process... we finally quit shipping with insurance, and just 'self insured'. We took the money we saved by NOT buying insurance, put it in a slush fund, and used that to recoup our costs every time the USPS lost a package. When a package was lost, we'd either just issue a refund or ship a new controller, since our slush fund covered the costs already. In this way, we don't have to deal with the f'in USPS government bull shit.

A letter costs $0.50 here... You can seriously send a 2 pound package for only 2 pounds?

thanks for all the help. I will purchase sometime, dunno when. I like the custom paint, will there be new ones like that in the future or are you sticking to white and black? How long until the limited edition one gets sold out?

We've got about 20 Serpent shells left as of today. We are packing up about 80 shells on Monday and hoping to get them shipped down to the paint shop in Texas, which usually mean about 4-6 weeks to get them back, so we are probably looking towards end of Octoberish to get the next custom shells in.

You might've bought back when we were running that website that I build using MacroMedia Dreamweaver (the ugly, amateur looking site). We started without the sig confirmation, that's what I mean, when we started out only using PayPal, selling on E-Bay and not requiring sig confirmation, we got ripped off all the time. Glad you weren't one of those customers :)

WOW!!! Way to make people who don't have the money to pay for a company to build a site for them feel good!!!!! back when we were running that website that I build using MacroMedia Dreamweaver (the ugly, amateur looking site). Also E, I'm pretty sure we still did sig confirmation back then too. Maybe M1A1's label got by without having that option checked when his labeled was created, or maybe it was sent to his Mother and she signed for it!!!

Yo, people do good stuff with MacroMedia dreamweaver!!! And also MacroMedia flash that is paired with it. Those two software were king for almost a decade in web design. I am an engineer, I am poking more fun at myself than Dreamweaver in that post.
