Usb device not recognized!!! PLZ HELP!!

When i plug in my thors hammer to my desktop , I instantly receive a message saying that the usb device isn't recognized. What confuses me is the fact that i have programmed my controller before with the same computer without any error messages. PLZ HELP!!!!
