For all you paranoid people out there worried about the xbox spying on you, I have two main points for you: #1 what do you have to hide? #2 the US government can already monitor you through camera and voice via any smartphone. So if they want to spy on you they can....

This is Xbox's new statements: Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.

For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.

Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.

You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.

So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.

Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.

I wonder if this means you can't share with friends in your library unless you have the disc but digital downloads you can? Heck I think the other way was better for me! Meaning some of them live to far to give them the disc to try out the game!

Well sadly Microsoft backtracked and now they are exactly like the PS4. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/...everse-controversial-game-licensing-policies/

I for one was looking forward to all the extra features and content that we were going to get with restrictive DRM and an "always on" connection. Now sadly XBOX will just be the same as every other crappy console made in the past decade.

I.e. I was looking forward to a console that embraced the "always on, always connected" culture that we have become, to see what it could do. Without the always on connection there are a lot of cool things the XBOX One will never be able to do.

Things that are now no longer possible:

No on-line downloadable game rentals.
No pre-installing all my games to my hard drive and not having to insert a disc every time I change games.
No sharing games with family and friends (without letting them borrow - and scratch up - your disc)
No trading in a game on-line, for credit towards other games, without having to drive down and wait in line at Gamestop, Walmart, etc.
No purchasing a game by download and lending it to a friend - that's right, now if you download your purchase, it's stuck on that hard drive.
No more incentive for developers to bring awesome content to the XBOX one (they will probably drop the dedicated servers now like those that were announced for Titanfall)

That's all I can think of for now. Frankly, I was looking forward to ditching the stupid disc. And I was especially looking forward to not having to stand around in line at the frigging Gamestop every time a new game comes out! (You have to now, since if you purchase through download, there's no way to re-sell it)

Its a sad day in deed. MS is stupid for caving in this late in the game. I wanted all the media library and sharing and was excited to see them kick the disc and stick it to the gamestops and actually create a fair buy sell trade system. Are people nuts? Ignorant people fear change. I really thought we were going next gen now its just a re hashed Xbox 360. Lame. Wish MS would implement a choice to be one or the other. We should have the option to stick with the old DRM or move it to the 360 way. Its a patch update when everyone gets their new system so why can't we have the choice to go one direction? Im going to try to put a word out to everyone to have the option to choose DRM or no DRM. Saidly it won't help but I can't stand back and feel like I'm getting raped on this one!

Tell me where everyone is going to complain to so I do the same! Maybe our numbers will get it change back! Wishful thinking anyways !

I think the reason they did it was because gamestop took them out their system. Now watch as it comes back on. I called my local gamestops stores and they all said they were selling more ps4 than xbox 2:1 so it make me wonder why they took them out of the system even tho they still had pre-order available.

Ya I have heard something about that. U should check out Xbox one forums. Its a great independent site where people talk all about the Xbox one. There is some good stuff in this forum. Just make sure u go to Xbox one forums not Xbox one forum. People post basically every shread of info thats out to date. This is where I go to get my 411 on the Xbox one.
