Do you mean the actual xbox1 update ? If so, settings, then system, update controller ... remember to plug in the charge cable and remove the batteries, plus if you have one, plug in the chat adapter ....

I leave mine plugged in, only connect the headset to it when I want to chat, you get used to it being there bone, its worth doing mate, I don't think they will ever make a smaller one anyway ...

Thanks for the heads up Matt, read it somewhere that the controller behaved like a wired one when plugged in. Will carry on using it anyway, as you say, keeps the battery fresh.

If I am not using chat (buzzing noise) I always have the charge cable plugged in, latency reduced to zero.
