As long as it is in a different place, you should be fine. The older updater should be called firmwareupdater.exe , so if you do not have that - you are fine. Just put the firmwareupdater2.exe away from the updater.exe

It won't be an issue to update to the newest firmware even if you have it. I would save Frimwareupdater2.exe to the desktop, and make sure you open that .exe.

When did you buy the controller? Did you buy off of viking360.com? Was the software from viking360.com ? The purple works some of the times, but not every? Are you using brand new AA batteries?

It will be updated already, just make sure to download all software from the website and not the CD-ROM. I'd say there are very few controllers left, so buy asap!
