I prefer a display of less than 32". My PC monitor is 23" and my TV is 32". The issue with larger displays is that they are at the same resolution when you are talking TVs but the pixels are less dense. Smaller displays are made to sit closer to than a large display and they do exploit that. 1920x1080 is the same resolution regardless of how big the screen displaying it is and I can't stand that trade off.
