I thought you already had the usb jack hooked up, but yes, connect that. Then use the Customization Software to see if it recognized the chip (don't turn the controller on, but make sure the batteries are charged when you hook it up via USB). If it recognizes the chip led 3 and 4 should blink alternately. Now try to read the settings, if that works ok, then your chip is acting well. You could now optionally perform a REBOOT MODCHIP.

OK got the led 3 and 4 blinking and down loaded the firm were updater and it has detected xbox360 Ragnarok i reset and program / verified which said it modchip erase and modchip programing complete successfully ! Time to play. but it is still doing the same thing as before. led 4 always on, and not being able to switch to other mods except for rapid fire, and with rapid fire i still have to hold trigger and then push mod button. im soooo lost lol

At this point, I have no idea anymore, save from a faulty chip. Time for the big guy to chime in, I guess :)

You're always welcome to let me take a look at it, but I'm in the Netherlands and I'm thinking you're in the US of A ?

yup from usa. what are somethings i could do if it is a faulty chip "not saying it is, but if it is" is there something i can do to tell if it is a faulty chip?

Really this does not look bad. The only thing that I can think of at first glance is you seem to have a lot of solder on the RT and LT points, that's the one in the middle of three points in a row.

Hey everybody, i'm new to the forums .. first post ::

i agree with odin .. looks like maybe your RT is over-soldered and may be touching one of the other solder points (i had a similar problem where my RB had just a small trace of solder touching the switch mount and it caused a very similar result). I think it might be time for you to run the button test code. My guess is one of your points is stuck in always-on.

p.s. -- the links on that page don't want to work right because there are spaces in the filenames, so you'll have to cut & paste the url into your address bar :-/

as Mikorz stated, try the button test code.

both your A and b button are wrong, the left trigger looks sloppy and may be bridged to the bottom pin. also check the VIF wire, it is sloppy and may be bridged tot he center pin.

First fix the b and a buttons then test.

Lol, I was so bent on checking for shorts, that I never noticed those being soldered to the wrong spots.

I managed to get the lower link working, but the upper one .. no joy. I tried :

http://www.viking360.com/downloads/XBOXRagnarokTestCodeandFirmware.zip
http://www.viking360.com/downloads/XBOXRagnarok/TestCodeandFirmware.zip
and a few others, but I lucked out on all of them.

Can somebody make this firmware available ?

yup .. your solder points are wrong on the A/B buttons -- you need to solder to the top of those trace pads, not the bottom

that is most likely your whole problem as the chip thinks a and b are both constantly being pressed. I have been so busy, I just got a chance to look at your pics. Sorry.

FYI, I believe the button test code was removed as I too could not find them. It was never intended for public use and makes it very easy to brick the chip. E may be able to shed some light on this.

(ps - matt, you might want to update your button test code thread with these links (assuming odin wants the code available still for diy'ers) : http://www.viking360.com/forums/showthread.php?5035

Thanks. FYI just in case somebody downloads these, these test codes only work on the CG2 version of the modchip.
